I didn't want to proclaim this as Geekysexy until I had a chance to try it, but the new Voice over IP (VoIP) phone system from Vonage is majorly sexy. Basically they ship you a little box that you plug into your Internet Hub at home. Then you plug a phone into the box. Bingo! You have a new phone number at home that works over the Internet. Sounds great, not much lag. And the service only cost $20 a month. You will get a phone number from New York or San Francisco, so people calling you will have to dial long-distance. But you can unplug the phone and take it with you wherever you have broadband Internet. They even have a web site where you can listen to your voice mail as streaming audio.
